We formed Fathom Frontiers after a casual Bigfoot outing in the Adirondacks of Upstate New York in 2009. That’s when we started really putting effort into investigating this whole phenomenon. We’d dabbled in the paranormal for many years, and still continue to do so, but this was so much more exciting. We were out in the middle of the woods, at night, looking for a huge monster-like creature…crazy! Jesse and I met when his family moved next door to mine during the summer before we were to start first grade. We quickly became best friends, playing together, getting into mischief, we were buds. Life has taken many turns and we’ve both lived in other cities for periods but we still remained close. Today we work together on Bigfoot and paranormal investigations, designing and selling cool merchandise through Grassman Gear, running our Bigfoot Adventure Weekends and making documentary films. Every time we get together and head out into those woods it’s like first grade all over. We love it!!
My name is Alan Megargle and I have a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Cleveland State University. I’ve been working full time as a process engineer for a fortune 500 electronics manufacturer for the last 14 years. I program test equipment that sits at the end of production lines where circuit board assemblies are made. In 2015 I completed a six week course at Holden Arboretum to become an Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist (OCVN). As an OCVN, I volunteer at a couple of parks leading night hikes and sharing with people my appreciation for nature. I’ve had a fascination with film making since I was young and have dreamed of making my own film. This wacky world of Bigfoot has given me the opportunity to realize that dream and as I continue to add to my self-taught film making skills I am increasingly excited to share my work with you…and the world.
Jesse Morgan has a bachelor’s degree in marketing and advertising from Cleveland State University. He works full time for the federal government in accounting helping, among others, our military veterans. Jesse spent several years in the Navy and National Guard with several oversees deployments and was stationed at the Superdome in New Orleans just after hurricane Katrina helping provide security during the cleanup. He’s had a passion for photography since as far back as I can remember and has an Associate’s degree of arts in photography from Lakeland Community College. For several years he served as the assistant manager at a local camera store chain. Jesse did tons of camping as a kid and later in the military and feels at home deep in the forest. He comes along on my quest to make films utilizing his photo skills and his eye for detail to make everything look good. His creative vision is what I feel makes our films special and unique.
In 2015 Jesse and I joined the ranks of the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization (BFRO) as investigators. We also completed our first film, a Bigfoot documentary, called “Minerva Monster” which premiered at the Ohio Bigfoot Conference to much fanfare and a packed house. That summer we completed a short film for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources entitled “The History of Salt Fork State Park”. In 2016 we began working on a second Bigfoot documentary titled “The Back 80”. We were filming all summer finishing up in late October. The film is scheduled to premiere at the 2017 Ohio Bigfoot Conference at Salt Fork State Park May 20th, 2017.
The Back 80 is an investigator’s look at what someone goes through after having an encounter with the legendary Sasquatch. The film looks deeper into the sighting flap of 2013 that occurred in the Mohican Valley of Central Ohio where many residents spotted a tall figure covered in hair walking upright on two legs. The film features real people talking about real experiences culminating with a woman facing her fears and heading deep into the woods to look for her tormenter, the resident Bigfoot. The Back 80 will give you an inside look at what this traumatic event did to the psyche of one unsuspecting woman. She will share her story in hopes of helping others who’ve had their own terrifying experience.
Now is your chance to help support this independent film produced by real investigators featuring true stories from actual Bigfoot witnesses. A Kickstarter campaign has been started to raise money for DVD production, marketing and other expenses related to the release of the film. You can pre-order this limited edition version of the film and other special merchandise and events now through https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/twistedtree/the-back-80-feature-film. Jesse and I greatly appreciate your support and we look forward to bringing you more great projects in the future. TO THE WOODS!!
